ABOUT ME *

Who is she, from New York City?

At my core, I am an artist through and through. Always have been. Always will be.

Since the moment I could hold a pencil, I have been drawing to express myself when words could not do it. At the age of 11, I started writing stories as a means of flourishing out my dreams that could not have been deemed possible in a tiny studio apartment in Brooklyn shared with my parents and three cats. At 12, I joined my first school play, in which my character was pied in the face with whipped cream three times a show and the embarrassment nearly made me quit theater altogether, but I stuck to it. I honestly could not tell you what made me keep going, but there was something deep within me that was an undeniable passion that would not let up.

At 16, I got my first lead role as Mina Murray in Dracula by Bram Stoker, adapted by one of my teachers at the time for the high school production and that undeniable passion found the ember that set alight my love for the theater, specifically the role I could play in storytelling. The very thing I had spent years drawing and writing about:

I found immense joy through physically being in the stories themselves and doing my best to honor the integrity of these characters.

However, it would be a lie to say I was totally confident in pursing theater and acting, even though it was the one throughline of all of the art I sought out since I was a tween. The fear of not being able to make enough money to support my one-income-for-a-whole-family household haunted me and made me feel really nervous about going straight into a conservatory or an arts college.

And yet that fire within me continued to burn.

Through a generous financial aid package, I graduated from The New School: Eugene Lang College for Liberal Arts, receiving my double major BA in Theater (shocking!) and Writing, with concentrations in Fiction and Playwriting. Through that education and working with my Front of House colleagues from The Public Theater, I was able to perform my first full length play I wrote about the myth of Medusa, in which it was the same story, but from her perspective before she was murdered by Perseus. Myself and the cast performed the piece twice: once in the basement of The New School and another at the Gene Frankel Theater in the East Village. A little over a year later, the play competed in The New York Theater Festival.

In 2023, I found out about the Atlantic Acting School and I auditioned on a whim, not knowing if I would even get in, and the cards played in my favor. I was accepted into the 2 Year Conservatory with a huge scholarship and my life was forever changed for the better. I took the leap and finally went to a conservatory for the art I have been so hungry to delve into fully. Through the program, training with the most brilliant teachers and talented classmates, I can confidently say that I have significantly grown as an actor and as a human being.

As of May 2025, I have completed the program and am flying out like a bat outta’ hell into my career!

As a playwright and writer I am able to write scenes, plays, essays, and stories for the benefit of my own self enjoyment and for my friends/colleagues to use for their work. For my writing (and all of my creative work), I do not use AI. I hate that I even have to clarify that in the first place, but that’s unfortunately what our current world is.

As a visual artist, I am able to design my own posters and have an eye on how to curate my website. I am experienced in acrylic and oil painting and pencil, pen, charcoal, and any other drawing materials when it comes to sketching. I am a huge fan of Procreate when it comes to making digital art and I have used it when designing posters for plays!

As an actor, I may have graduated, but I am still constantly seeking out new work to learn from, from reading plays and watching movies and television shows, and taking classes in other spaces where I can. At Atlantic, I learned that I have a knack for film acting, so my world has now expanded to include film and television in the mediums of storytelling I would love to be a part of.

I am a Mezzo-Soprano and, although I don’t have formal musical theater training, I want to continue to work on my singing voice, maybe even writing my own music one day! I started playing bass guitar at 7 years old, acoustic guitar at 11, and am ready to bring these instruments back into my repertoire. I also love making playlists for the characters I play and curating music for plays, in which music goes hand in hand with the energy of the plays I write. Check out my Spotify to see the playlists I have made for my past theatrical work!

I also love fashion + styling! I worked at a second hand thrift shop over a year and a half and through that job, I fell in love with learning about clothing and how to find my voice through the art of fashion. I pride myself on being able to find outfits for both myself and the ones I love that are functional, good quality, worth the money, and look cool as f–ANYWAY, I would love to try costume designing, too.

My name is Nicola Mocciaro and I am ready to work.
